CANOEING

< Previous Next >

CANOE INTRODUCTION (RIVER)
This workshop lasts all day as we paddle on the Deerfield or Connecticut River. Participants are taught canoe safety, paddling and steering techniques, and boating etiquette, as well as how to read a river and avoid obstacles. We stop for a midday picnic lunch and swim, and learn about the river's history and inhabitants. If we're lucky, we'll see the majestic Bald eagles that nest on the riverbanks.

CANOE INTRODUCTION (POND)
In this program we teach basic canoeing skills including safety, paddling and steering techniques, and boating etiquette. Participants wear life vests and spend 2 hours paddling in a protected flat-water setting.
