THERAPEUTIC PROGRAMMING

With our emphasis on
team building, group problem solving skills, cooperation, trust,
self-confidence, and expression of feelings, Morse Hill's standard
adventure education programs clearly have a therapeutic effect on
the participants. Our post-program evaluations confirm the positive
changes seen in participants by group leaders following a visit
to Morse Hill.
Certain participants
can benefit additionally from a more focused approach. In our therapeutic
adventure programs, we devote extra attention and time to helping
participants process and understand their experiences. We explain
each initiative metaphorically to help participants confront and
understand any discomfort or distress they may feel. Encouraging
the use of metaphors helps participants make useful connections
between their Morse Hill experience and the challenges of everyday
life. Participants leave Morse Hill with a new perspective on their
life and a fresh approach to dealing with old problems.
Therapeutic adventure
education has a well-established track record of efficacy with substance
abuse, violence prevention, depression and many other treatment
areas. Ronald Meck, our Director of Therapeutic and Arts Programming,
brings over 25 years of experience as a therapist and trainer of
therapists at Lesley College and the European Graduate School. His
unique and exciting model integrates therapeutic adventure education
with expressive arts therapy. Ronald will work with you to custom
design a program to suit your needs.
